Derek Crawford serves as the Executive Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, IA. In this role, he oversees all church ministries, but his call and passion are for youth, children, and young adult ministries. Derek’s motto is, “That if you are not having fun as a Christian, then you are probably doing it wrong”. He is married to his beautiful wife, Regan, and they have an exuberant toddler named Kaiya.
Derek has a Master of Divinity and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, blending analytical thinking with a deep passion for faith. Derek is an avid fan of LEGOs, football, hiking, movies, television, and most things pop culture-related.
Derek stated, “I believe in the power of faith and community and am always eager to   engage in meaningful conversations that bridge diverse perspectives. Whether I’m building with LEGO, discussing the latest movie, or exploring the depths of theology, I’m passionate about nurturing connections while also sharing in the joy and hope only found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

THEME: “THE MODERN EXILE”

These sessions will focus on the effects of the Christian exile found in scripture and explore what it means in our modern context. What does it mean to live as exiles in a culture that may be contrary to Christian values? How are we to engage with culture in a meaningful and impactful way without being transformed by it?
